“Reynolds’ Cottages: Living History”
Melissa Holmes talked about her book, “Reynolds’ Cottages: Living History” which
traces the story of the earliest remaining dwellings in The Rocks alongside the evolution
of The Rocks from a penal colony to working class neighbourhood to ‘heritage theme park’.
As far back as 1823, bureaucrats and developers have conspired to gain power and
prosperity through property in The Rocks. Her story shows that nothing has changed, except
the stakes of Sydney’s cultural heritage.
